How to check whether your car battery is good?
Car batteries are essential for a car to function, but with time the battery health starts to deteriorate. You will know it happened when your car won't start or your engine isn't running. When the battery is low and you are unable to start the engine, it is important to determine if it is low and needs recharging or is too weak to hold a charge. Sometimes discharged or discharged batteries just need to be charged or recharged. When they lose the ability to hold the load, they need a replacement.
Steps to check a car battery easily!
Before checking your car battery you have to wait at least a few days without driving. This is due to the fact that your vehicle's alternator charges the battery while driving. Testing the battery after several days of inactivity will show how well it holds a charge. If it is significantly discharged, it will probably need to be replaced.
- Now open the hood of your vehicle when you're ready to check the battery to see where it is. If not, look in your car somewhere.
- Connect the red wire from the battery tester to the positive battery terminal. Further, connect the black wire terminal to the negative terminal, then turn on the tester. Be sure to place the tester in a place where it will lie flat and will not fall on the engine later when running tests with the car running.
- Switch the battery tester to voltage test mode to determine the battery charge level. This test can be done with a simple voltmeter or multimeter, but a battery tester will detect this as well.
- Compare your battery's CCA score to reality with a battery tester. A good battery will have a value close to its CCA rating. A bad battery will not. The tester will tell you the battery status based on the actual CCA output.
